Becoming botanical by collaging florals
Hello! It’s Alicia, and I am here to share a free lesson with you from my newest class Botanicals. I am so excited to team up with Get Messy Art Journal to share one of my muses in art journaling: all things botanical. In my class, I will be sharing my favorite ways to bring flowers and plants into my art journals and teaching you how to create beautiful spreads using a variety of drawing, painting and collaging techniques.
- Art journal
- Floral images (download the PDF)
- Image of a person or animal
- Acrylic paint
- Various other favorite supplies
Today, I have a fun lesson to share with you using collage! Join me in this lesson as we get ready to jump into Botanicals in Art Journaling.
Now we are ready to get started! Join me in the video as I share my process for these floral collages.
In the video, I take you through a step-by-step of how I created my spread, and you are welcome to follow these steps as closely as you want or to give this idea your own personal twist. When collaging, I always like having a few possible options to try out. I encourage you to test out various combinations as well — you may surprise yourself with what you come up with!
I look forward to seeing you in my upcoming class, Botanicals in Art Journaling, where we will fill our art journals with botanical inspired art! In the class you will learn how to draw blind botanical contour line drawings, how to create ink drawings with pointed nibs and a paint brush, how to paint florals, dive into botanical collaging and learn how to use your own artwork in your own artwork to add multiple layers of floral depth. The class is packed full of creative ways to use nature’s showstopper in your art journal plus you will walk away with new drawing and painting skills that can be applied to other subjects in your artwork.
